The Pondy Puppy

My daughter sent me two pictures some months back from Pondichery. she wrote a small piece about a 'Pondy Puppy' but there was not even word as caption for 'pasu'kkutty', The Calf. I didn't need one either, b'cause sight of calfs always accopanied by the legendary Joan Baez song ('On a wagon bound for market...') in my mind, and once you listen J Baez's, I am sure you will stop eating meat. She sang this number before a mammoth crowd of music lovers in 1969 and most listeners, I had read some where, stopped meat eating! Here is the link to Joan Baez song On a wagon... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqzGZ5AaeSs LYRICS FOLLOWS On a waggon bound for market there`s a calf with a mournful eye. High above him there`s a swallow, winging swiftly through the sky. How the winds are laughing, they laugh with all their might. Laugh and laugh the whole day through, and half the summer`s night. Donna, Donna, Donna, Donna; Donna, Donna, Donna, Don. Donna, Donna, Donna, Donna; Donna, Donna, Donna, Don."Stop complaining!“ said the farmer, Who told you a calf to be ? Why don`t you have wings to fly with, like the swallow so proud and free?“ + Chorus Calves are easily bound and slaughtered, never knowing the reason why. But who ever treasures freedom, like the swallow has learned to fly. + Chorus
